Dragonfly Collective
Homeschool Enrichment (HSE) Program
A Waldorf-inspired, nature-based enrichment program in Mancos, Colorado
About the program
Dragonfly Collective is a homeschool enrichment program rooted in the same guiding principles as Dragonfly School. Dragonfly Collective honors the wonder, imagination, and developmental needs of childhood, while offering a flexible, part-time learning experience for homeschool families.
Dragonfly Collective operates as a separate homeschool enrichment program, while sharing space and philosophy with Dragonfly School. This allows us to maintain program integrity and compliance with enrichment program requirements while still providing a warm, nurturing environment where children can gather in community, engage in meaningful work, and experience a rhythmical, creative, and nature-connected education.
Schedule:
HSE Days will be held on Mondays each week, following the same school calendar as Dragonfly School.
Daily RHythm:
Our focus is to create a harmonious, orderly environment in which children can develop confidence in themselves and a natural respect for others and the world in which they live. The teachers accomplish this peaceful tone through a carefully planned, rhythmical program that balances periods requiring more and then less concentration, group and then individual participation, with as much time spent outdoors as possible. The following is a typical rhythm of the day, and could be subject to change with seasons and classroom needs:
8:15 am Drop-off
8:30 Welcome Circle, and morning walk outside
9:15 Bathroom time & hand washing
9:30 Morning activity (painting, drawing, beeswax modeling, baking, making soup)
10:00 Snack
10:30 Main lesson/Learning time/Story time
11:30p Outside free play
12:00 Lunch
12:30 Quiet time/Story
1:00 Transition to afternoon activities
1:15 Outdoor Play, Seasonal crafts/games outside, as well as Afternoon chores and help prepare snack
3:00 Snack Time for all
