Tuition Assistance
Dragonfly provides needs-based tuition support for families, to keep the school accessible to as many families as possible. We offer four forms of assistance:
the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP)
Universal Preschool (UPK)
Our in-house Dragonfly Tuition Assistance Fund
Select work trade arrangements
As a nonprofit school, we can give one form of aid per child. Every dollar we award in need-based tuition assistance is a dollar Dragonfly has to make up for through other revenue streams and fundraising efforts. We ask that families give their children’s education a high priority in their financial planning. In addition, we ask that families get creative with paying for a child’s tuition, including considering help and contributions from both parents/guardians, and extended family.
We are building a close school community together. As Dragonfly commits to the family to provide a nurturing, nature-based Waldorf-inspired Early Childhood experience, we in turn ask families to commit fully to the school. If a family can not give Dragonfly tuition funds, we ask that they try to give of their time and unique talents. All enrolled families are expected to attend festivals, help at volunteer work days, and engage with their child’s education here.
Forms of Financial Assistance available
Colorado State Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP - for children of ALL ages) - Click here for more information. This program allows your child to attend Dragonfly at a very low cost. Your county’s Social Services processes these applications, and they determine your family’s tuition rate and fee. Please note this option is available for full day/full time enrollment attendance only, due to financial pieces.
According to the County system, you may be eligible to participate in CCCAP if you:
Are working, seeking employment, or are participating in training/education (must be doing these things during the hours your child is at school)
Have at least one child who is under 13 years old
Have a family income of less than the defined maximum in your county of residence
Universal Preschool (UPK) - Click here for more information. Colorado’s UPK program entitles all 4 year-olds to 15 hours of free preschool education. If your child will be 4 years old (the cutoff is September 1st—as in your child should not be 5 or older on September 1, 2025), we encourage you to apply to UPK. This is for ALL families, of all income levels!
How does it work? The state UPK program covers 15 hours of free tuition. Families then make up the difference if their child’s schedule is more than 15 hours of school (which ranges $350 - $60/month).
When applying to UPK, specify in your application:
That your child is currently enrolled at Dragonfly (returning families)
AND List Dragonfly as your first choice in choosing a Provider (for both new families and returning families)
You’ll then be “matched” to Dragonfly, and we’ll go from there.
Please use the link below to learn more about the program, and to see if your child will qualify: https://upk.colorado.gov/
Dragonfly Tuition Assistance Program - Click here for more information and to fill out the tuition assistance form. Families are asked to submit an assistance application, separate from their enrollment application. The due date for this application is May 15th, or at the time of a family’s Enrollment Inquiry/Application if after May 15th.
The Dragonfly Tuition Assistance Committee assess need based on current Federal Poverty levels, a family’s most recent tax return (first 2 pages of your 1040) and a detailed questionnaire.
Parent Work Trade - Parents and Guardians may have the option to do a work trade to help cover tuition. Please contact our Director for more information on available positions. Common work trade opportunities include Office/Admin help, cleaning, fundraising, and landscaping.
