Admission & Registration
New Families: How to apply
Please Submit this Inquiry form to get into our ChildPilot management system, AND this application for us to get to know your family.
Once we’ve received both your inquiry and application, we will give you a call and schedule a tour for your family. The tour is a time for you to ask any questions you may have, and for us to meet you as well. If you’re not local, let’s talk on the phone!
After your tour and/or interview, if you would like to move forward with the enrollment process, we will create an invoice for our $250 non-refundable deposit, which holds your child’s place in the class (this will be converted into Teacher’s art supply budget for the year). Please note, this deposit is non-refundable.
You will receive an invitation from our ChildPilot communications software to set up your parent portal. In ChildPilot you may pay the Enrollment deposit noted above.
All enrollment forms are due before the start of school in September. In your parent portal, there is a Documents tab where you can find the required Enrollment Record, health form, and Immunization/Immunization Exemption forms.
Welcome to Dragonfly!
Current Families:
Contact us to let us know you would like your child to return! The Director will reach out to confirm your child’s enrollment.
At this point you may put down the $250 non-refundable deposit to hold your child’s place in the class (This will be converted into the art supply fee for the year).
Over the summer, you may update your child’s annual forms in ChildPilot—each year we’ll need an updated health form, enrollment record, and immunization records.
We’re glad you’re child will be staying with us.
To be added to our wait list:
If your child is too young for our programs currently, and you want to be on our waitlist, please submit an inquiry form here! We’ll be in touch, and we look forward to your family joining us in time.
Admissions policies and awareness:
The Mancos Valley Dragonfly School welcomes children of any background, race, religion, gender, or national origin.
Vaccination Status: We accept unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, and fully vaccinated children into the program. All Teachers and Administrative Staff are trained in first aid.
Neurodiversity and Disability in the Classroom: All children and their families shall receive equal opportunity and attention during the Admissions tour and process. Dragonfly School seeks to make every reasonable effort and accommodation for all children in our care. However, the school does not have the funding ability to offer one-on-one aides for children that need a higher level of support from teachers at all times. Our Teachers do not have thorough, specific training on developmental challenges and delays that may be needed with some children, so we must state that we are not able to admit all children here at Dragonfly.
For many more Policies and Procedures, please see our current Parent Handbook.
Tuition Assistance:
We ask that families give their children’s education a high priority in their financial planning; and this may include considering asking for help from extended family or grandparents. For those in need, we are able to offer the following tuition assistance programs:
Colorado State Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP - for children of ALL ages) - Click here for more information. This program allows your child to attend Dragonfly at a very low cost. Your county’s Social Services processes these applications, and they determine your family’s tuition rate and fee. Please note this option is available for full day/full time attendance only. You may be eligible to participate in CCCAP if you:
Are working, seeking employment, or are participating in training/education (must be doing these things during the hours your child is at school)
Have at least one child who is under 13 years old
Have a family income of less than the defined maximum in your county of residence
Universal Preschool (UPK) - Click here for more information. Colorado’s UPK program entitles all 4 year olds to 15 hours of free preschool education. If your child will be 4 years old (the cutoff is September 1st—as in your child should not be 5 or older on September 1, 2024), and you know that you would like to continue at Dragonfly in the fall, we encourage you to apply to UPK.
How does it work? The state UPK program covers 15 hours of free tuition. Families then make up the difference if their child’s schedule is more than 15 hours of school (which ranges $350 - $60/month).
When applying to UPK, specify in your application:
That your child is currently enrolled at Dragonfly (returning families)
AND List Dragonfly as your first choice in choosing a Provider (for both new families and returning families)
You’ll then ideally be “matched” to Dragonfly, and we’ll go from there.
Please use the link below to learn more about the program, and to see if your child will qualify: https://upk.colorado.gov/
Dragonfly Tuition Assistance Program - Click here for more information and for a printable application. We may be able to offer tuition assistance on a sliding scale, based on need. Families are asked to submit an assistance application, separate from their enrollment application.
The Dragonfly Tuition Assistance Committee assess need based on current Federal Poverty levels, a family’s most recent tax return (first 2 pages of your 1040) and a detailed questionnaire.
